about

Persian cuisine at its finest

Where Every Meal Matters

At Joon, we cook to gather people. In the Iranian tradition, hospitality is not a gesture but a way of life — guests are honored, tables are filled without restraint, and no one leaves anything less than cared for. We cook in that spirit, with ingredients chosen carefully, techniques refined through respect for tradition, and a generosity that turns an evening into something memorable.

The name carries the philosophy. Joon is a term of endearment in Persian — meaning life, meaning soul, meaning the people one holds closest. It is the spirit we offer every guest who walks through the door.

The Menu

Our cooking honors the traditions of the Iranian table while embracing the contemporary interpretations. Kubideh kabob, chicken kabob, lamb and pistachio meatballs, Kashk-e bademjon, saffron rice finished with a golden crown of tahdig — these are dishes generations of Iranian families have shared, and we prepare them with the reverence they deserve. Alongside them, plates such as the Lamb Pavé and the Whole Roasted Branzino reflect a more contemporary point of view — Middle Eastern flavors interpreted with a refined and modern hand.

Ingredients are the foundation of everything that follows. We source locally and seasonally wherever possible, and we are uncompromising on the elements that define this cuisine: saffron from trusted producers, hand-ground spices, herbs and rice of singular quality.

From our Unlimited Plates Weekend Brunch to our weekday lunch specials, abundance and generosity remain at the heart of every service. It is, quite simply, the way we believe people should eat.

MayBar @ Joon

MayBar is our bar and lounge, and a destination unto itself. The wine list is composed to pair with our cuisine, drawing from both classical regions and lesser-known local and Middle Eastern producers worth discovering. Cocktails are built around the seasons and the spice cabinet of the kitchen next door, and our zero-proof program offers the same craft and consideration as the spirited side of the menu.

Social hour is offered daily from 3 to 6 pm — for an aperitif before dinner, a glass of something quiet on the patio, or a nightcap to close the evening.

Our Space

  • A lively bar and lounge at MayBar
  • A dining room suited to date nights, business dinners, and family celebrations
  • An outdoor patio, available for reservations, weather permitting
  • Private dining spaces, including the Sheytooni Room with its own private bar

Private Events & Catering

From corporate dinners and milestone celebrations within our private dining spaces to off-site catering across the region, our Events Designer collaborates with each host on menu, setting, and the pacing of the occasion. Our Commitment

We are proud to share a cuisine rooted in Iran with the community that has so warmly received us, and proud to count ourselves among the restaurants shaping the DMV's lively dining scene. Whether you join us for lunch, brunch, dinner, a private celebration, or a catered occasion of your own, our intention is the same — to make every guest feel entirely at home.
